Etobicoke-York Community Council (EYCC) Meeting
The EYCC meeting's agenda has now been set. The City's South Kingsway-Queensway background information and proposal is found on page 12-13 of the agenda http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2008/ey/agendas/2008-07-07-ey18-ar.pdf. Links to other info is embedded in the document.
Please do one (or more!) of the following three activities:
1) Call or email the EYCC councillors to let them know that you want a total redesign of the South Kingsway-Queensway Intersection -- not just a band-aid solution. See http://www.toronto.ca/committees/council_profiles/torontowest.htm for councillor emails and phone numbers.
2) Please let us know if you can make a 5 minute deputation on July 7th at 2:00PM in support of the SKQI redesign at this community council meeting. We'll be glad to help you with talking points -- there are many! Also, be sure to call/email Brad Bartlett, Committee Clerk, at 416-394-5606 or bbartle@toronto.ca to get your name on the deputation list. It may be a good idea to "cc" your email to etcc@toronto.ca
The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at the Etobicoke Civic Centre, 399 The West Mall, Toronto. The Civic Centre is located on the west side of Highway 427, just south of Burnhamthorpe. Take TTC subway westbound to Kipling Station and catch any 112 West Mall bus to Burnhamthorpe. The bus takes about 10-12 minutes to get to the Civic Centre. Biking and walking is definitely more difficult in suburbia. We suggest taking your bike on the subway to Islington Station. Go north on Islington to Dundas and then swing on to Burnhamthorpe (5 minutes from station). Continue on Burnhamthorpe west and cross over 427. You'll see Civic Centre on the south when you reach the west side of the 427. First southbound turn will be West Mall -- huge intersection. All these wide streets invite fast car drivers so please be careful!
3) Write a letter by July 4th (see the Get Involved page for a template you can customize) and send to:
